BASS in the magazine "stern"
In September, the German media landscape was all about the election campaign. However, the fact that BASS was featured in Stern's "The candidates up close” issue had nothing to do with politics but with the tool manufacturer's consistent digitization strategy.
In the report "On the test bench," stern presents companies that successfully combine tradition and digitization. Among well-known consumer brands such as Adidas, Kärcher and Teekanne is also BASS from the Main-Tauber district. With four out of five stars, the internationally active company scores well in all sub-disciplines.
Anna Mühleck, Head of Organizational Development at BASS, shows that digitization is not just a buzzword. "Throughout the company, there are shopfloor screens on which upcoming events such as customer tours or maintenance measures are displayed. Employee suggestions for improvement and key process indicators are visualized live and discussed daily."
From the digital machine connection to its own app for the external sales team, BASS attaches great importance to the consistent development of IT in all areas. "Digitization must never be an end in itself, but must always offer benefits to the employees," says Martin Zeller, Managing Director at BASS. "When we reorganized our warehouse a few years ago, we simultaneously integrated hand scanners for our colleagues. This not only eliminated many manual tasks but also actually eliminated many steps every day due to optimized routing when picking goods" agrees Anna Mühleck. "On the scanner's display, stock bookings are confirmed directly after material withdrawal and are transferred to the ERP system via WiFi. In the past, the employees in the shipping department used printed lists and had to search for the storage location of the products in the system or knew it based on many years of experience. The digital mapping of the warehouse and the processes has made life easier, especially in view of almost 10,000 different products in stock."
The example in the shipping department at BASS is just one of many but it also demonstrates in an easily comprehensible way how a well thought-out digitization strategy not only advances the company but also makes everyday life easier for employees. "We are therefore immensely pleased to receive this award in one of Germany's largest magazines," concludes Anna Mühleck.
